Wavelengths Community Choir

Wavelengths Community Choir is a vibrant non-auditioned, community-based and socially responsible choir that unites people through the joy of singing. We believe that singing is a human birthright, and that anyone, when surrounded by like-minded people, can enjoy the gift of singing together in beautiful harmony.

Join the Wavelengths Community Choir

Our choir does not require an audition to become a member – all you need is a desire to sing accessible music in harmony with other people. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings and lead to semi-annual concerts which raise money for worthy charities. Learn more about our membership today.

Membership

The membership of Wavelengths is usually around 80 people, and they come from all kinds of backgrounds. No previous experience in singing is required for membership, nor is any knowledge of music “theory” or the ability to read music. All music is taught orally, with the support of printed music. Fees for membership are kept as low as possible, with a sliding scale for those with limited means. Funds raised from concerts are donated to worthy local and international charities.

Rehearsals & Concerts

Wavelengths has two seasons per year, September through January, and February through June.

Choir rehearsals are at the Unitarian Church on West Saanich Road and are led by director Denis Donnelly.

The choir normally sings in 4-part “SATB” configuration, with music arranged mostly by its director.

The repertoire is very varied, as you can see here.
